Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2020-2021 Lincoln Aviator vehicles due to issues related to the battery cable wire harness.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the battery cable wire harness may have been improperly secured.
The hazards: an improperly secured battery cable wire harness could contact the A/C compressor pulley. Given enough time, the A/C pulley may rub through the battery cable wire insulation and make contact with the unfused battery positive (B+) circuit, which could result in a short circuit and potential fire.
Ford is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or fires related to this issue.
Components: battery cable, battery cable wire harness, A/C compressor belt, A/C compressor pulley.
Affected vehicles: select 2020-2021 Lincoln Aviator models equipped with the gasoline Ford 3.0L EcoBoost V6 assembled at the Ford Chicago Assembly plant between June 19th, 2019, and January 5th, 2021.
