These days, NASCAR fans have a seemingly endless supply of former race cars to bid on via various online collector car auctions, as those vehicles just keep coming out of the proverbial woodwork. This isn’t a huge surprise given that series’ enduring popularity, and it makes perfect sense that a fan might want to own the actual race car once piloted by their favorite driver. Now, they’re getting that chance once again, this time, via a 1998 Ford Taurus NASCAR racer that’s currently up for grabs.

This 1998 Ford Taurus NASCAR race car is up for auction at Bring a Trailer, having spent some time competing in super speedway races during that same season under the Roush Racing banner with driver Mark Martin behind the wheel. In it’s current form, the racer features the same #6 Valvoline livery used by Roush Racing for Mark Martin during the 2000 Winston Cup season, and it’s in great shape, save for a dent inside the trunk, plus some scuffs on the wrap and lower front valance.

As one might imagine, the cockpit of this Ford Taurus racer is all business, with features such as a ButlerBuilt racing seat with a harness as well as a full roll cage, door bars, a window net, Pro-Comp instrumentation, and a fire-suppression system, but not much else. Power comes from a recently-rebuilt 358 cubic-inch V8, which sends power to the rear wheels via a Super T-10 four-speed manual transmission.

This is just the latest of several Ford Taurus NASCAR racers we’ve seen hit the auction block as of late, a list that includes a 2001 model driven by Jeremy Mayfield and Mike Wallace during that particular season, plus another Taurus piloted by Ricky Rudd from the 2000-2002 seasons.

We’ll have more cool auction finds like this to share soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authorityfor more Ford Taurus news and continuous Ford news coverage.
