It’s been over 15 years since Ford sold Jaguar to Tata Motors, and since then the British company has struggled to adapt to a changing market. Sedans and coupes – which formed the backbone of the company’s identity until recently – have fallen out of favor for utility vehicles. To make matters more complicated, the electrification push has also forced many automotive brands to reboot their lineups, or abort their attempts, like Lincoln. Unlike Ford’s luxury arm however, Jaguar has stopped production of all internal combustion vehicles in favor of battery electric models. Until production of the new models begin, the company revealed its Type 00 concept, which previews the company’s approach to an all-new four door GT style vehicle.

Under the banner of “Exuberant Modernism,” The Type 00 concept was deliberately named to evoke models like the legendary E-type while heralding the coming of the company’s new era. Named for being a zero emissions vehicle and car zero of the rebooted lineage, the swooping fastback and long hood will likely preview the production model’s exterior, as the company says its Jaguar Electrical Architecture allowed it to sculp such a dramatic surface.

As for specific details, the Jaguar Type 00 will be built in the UK as a four door GT, set for a late 2025 reveal. The automaker is targeting an EPA rated 430-mile driving range on a single charge, with the capability to add up to 200 miles of range in 15 minutes with DC fast charging.

“Jaguar is no place for ordinary,” said Constantino Segui Gilabert, chief exterior designer. “When you see a new Jaguar for the first time, it must have a sense of awe, of never having been seen before. Type 00 commands attention, like all the best Jaguars of the past. It has a dramatic presence, channeling a unique spirit of British creativity and originality. It celebrates art and embodies the essence of Exuberant Modernism.”

Like Jaguar, Lincoln has also released a low-slung concept meant to preview the company’s approach to an all-electric future. That said, Lincoln is not diving head first into EVs, as the brand ditched its plan to offer EVs earlier this year in favor of gasoline and hybrid powertrains.
