Ford Motor Company has pledged to contribute $1 million plus a fleet of vehicles toward the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.

According to a report from The Detroit News, Ford is one of an expanding list of major companies who have promised to chip in for Trump’s inauguration ceremony, which is scheduled for January 20th, 2025. While it’s currently the only automaker that has plans to contribute to the festivities, Ford joins other massive corporations like Amazon, Meta Platforms, OpenAI, Robinhood Markets, Uber Technologies, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs Group, and more.

This isn’t the first time Ford has provided resources toward a Trump inauguration. Back in 2017, The Blue Oval gave $250,000 to President Trump’s first inauguration, while Ford’s crosstown rival, General Motors, pitched in with its own $500,000 contribution. Both Ford and GM subsequently contributed the same amounts toward the inauguration of Joe Biden in 2021, and while Ford has already stepped up to the plate for 2025, GM hasn’t indicated if it will contribute again.

As is customary for his position, Trump is forming a committee to coordinate and fund inauguration festivities. This committee finances all inaugural events, apart from the swearing-in ceremony held at the Capitol and luncheon honoring the incoming president and vice president. Responsibility for those events falls on the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.

Ford – and the automotive industry as a whole – is bracing for major change under the forthcoming Trump presidency. The automaker stands to be negatively affected by proposed tariffs, especially considering the that key Ford vehicles like the Maverick, Mustang Mach-E, and Bronco Sport are produced in Mexico. The Trump transition team is also weighing canceling EV incentive programs while also potentially dropping the EV USPS contract by ending its agreement with Ford and Oshkosh.

Even so, Ford CEO Jim Farley is holding steadsy, saying he “isn’t panicked” about potential Trump policy changes.

  • Biden did not help Ford either by forcing EV mandates and then exempting half the tax credit from the Mustang Mach E.

Jan 20th can't come fast enough.

  • Trump hates the auto industry. Why would they fund the POS. Going to be a long 4 years. Can’t wait till he’s gone.

  • why spend $ on Trump?
I follow Ford business on many websites, and I am a Stockholder.
Whomever made this decision should be employed elsewhere.

  • Go 100% in for ICE vehicles and make a fortune. There will be no stupid EV mandates for the next 4 years and hopefully the next 12 years with an 8 year presidency with Vance. Do and make what you make best Ford.

  • Good economy, Finally a infrastructure bill and a new chips manufacturing plant in the US. And let's not forget no corruption from the guy in the whitehouse. We will see how long before things really get ____ up. Good memory on my part.

  • Last 2 Ford's Im ever buying! Cant believe Ford would contribute my hard earned money to support a convicted felon and impeached former president who's a crook on crack about to destroy the US on his pathway to self indulgence!
