We continue to see former Blue Oval race cars hit the auction block on a regular basis, many of which were once driven by professionals in the NASCAR series. Those older stock cars tend to generate a lot of interest among fans, and for good reason – who wouldn’t want to own a vehicle that was once driven by their hero? For those that are fans of driver Greg Biffle – who was just inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame last year – this 2005 Ford Taurus racer is sure to be a hot target when it crosses the auction block this weekend, too.
This 2005 Ford Taurus NASCAR racer is going up for grabs at Mecum’s Tulsa, Oklahoma auction this weekend, after it was driven by Greg Biffle to a pole position in the NASCAR Busch Series in 2005. It still wears its original Duraflame #66 livery, along with Goodyear racing tires and all of the other goods one might expect to find. Inside, one will find an all-business cabin with a roll cage and a black racing seat, plus Jack Roush’s autograph, to boot, joined by a matching model car as a nice little added bonus.
Under the hood lies the typical 358 cubic-inch V8 that powered NASCAR racers from this era, which is linked to a four-speed manual transmission. It appears that all of the original goodies are still present and accounted for – including the MSD ignition – making this about as close to a real-deal modern-day NASCAR racer that a common citizen like ourselves can go out and buy today.
This Ford Taurus is one of a few former NASCAR racers we’ve seen hit the auction block in recent months – a list that also includes a Ford Fusion raced by Chad Chaffin at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, and Atlanta Motor Speedway, as well as another Taurus piloted by Dale Jarrett in the 1999 season, when he won the Cup championship.
