The Ford Mustang is now 60 years old, and has long been a favorite among collectors, though certain models tend to be more coveted than others. In the SN95 generation, most gravitate toward the high-performance SVT Cobra, which was offered in various forms throughout that model’s fourth-generation, and has since become a regular at collector car auctions. Now, this 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra convertible is joining that list, and it’s a rather stunning example with just 25 miles on the odometer.
This 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra is set to be auctioned off at Mecum’s Monterey, California sale next month, and it’s easily one of the lowest-mile examples of its breed that we’ve seen in some time. As one might imagine, it’s in highly original condition and is one of just 1,003 SVT Cobra convertibles produced in the 1995 model year, making it that much more desirable for pony car collectors that appreciate this higher-performance variant that was sold new at Paramount Ford in Valdese, North Carolina.
This SVT Cobra is finished in black with a Saddle Tan leather interior, a rather nice combination, and it all looks to be in pretty tidy condition. It has plenty of amenities including power windows and locks, the Mach 460 sound system, air conditioning and dual power mirrors, along with 17-inch aluminum wheels, a sport-tuned dual exhaust system, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and the Traction-Lok rear axle, plus variable rate springs and gas-pressurized struts/shocks.
The pony car gets by with the high-output Ford 5.0L V8, originally rated to send 240 horsepower to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission – pretty decent figures for its time, if not a bit low by today’s lofty standards.
Regardless, we’ve seen our fair share of Ford Mustang SVT Cobra models pop up for sale as of late, generally with few miles on the clock and in stellar shape. That list includes a 1994 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Pace Car, as well as a ’98 Cobra with 18k miles.
