2026 Ford Explorer Tremor MSRP Slightly Cheaper Than Timberline

The all-new 2026 Ford Explorer Tremor debuted back in late June as an effective replacement for the outgoing Timberline, both of which are more off-road-focused than the rest of the lineup. Both the Explorer Timberline and Tremor are quite similar in many ways, however, but given the fact that the SUV they’re based on received a mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 model year, one might assume that the latter would also be a bit more expensive. Turns out, that isn’t the case at all, and in fact, the 2026 Ford Explorer Tremor is actually slightly cheaper than the Timberline.

According to CarsDirect, the 2026 Ford Explorer Tremor will launch with an MSRP of $48,330 before destination charges are added, which places it right in between the 2025 Explorer ST-Line and Platinum trims. The 2024 Ford Explorer Timberline started out at $49,430 before destination and delivery costs of $1,595. The Explorer Tremor does have a slightly higher destination charge of $1,695, but that means it’ll still be slightly cheaper – exactly $1,000 less, in fact.

This pricing pertains to the 2026 Ford Explorer Tremor with the base engine offering, however – the turbocharged 2.3L EcoBoost I-4, which churns out 300 horsepower. According to CarsDirect, opting for the more powerful, 400 horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.0L EcoBoost V6 (as first reported by Ford Authority) may require checking the box for the Tremor Ultimate Package, which costs a whopping $11,500 – making that potent combination quite a lot more expensive than the base model, if that is in fact true.

For that outlay of cash, the 2026 Ford Explorer Tremor nets buyers a unique and more rugged exterior appearance with orange accents, 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, and mechanical goodies such as a Torsen limited-slip differential, an off-road-tuned suspension, a one-inch lift, unique springs and sway bars, and skid plates. Order books for the 2026 Explorer Tremor are open now, with deliveries expected to begin at some point in late 2025.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

    1. These already exists in the active trim. You just have to upgrade to 4WD. No point in making an additional specialty model that is the same as an already produced model.

  2. The Base Active Trim Explorer has an MSRP of $39,,755. If you’re not using the 3rd roll seat. Leave it in the down position for hauling cargo. I found that having the 3rd roll seat comes in handy if your passenger total exceeds 4 with the 2nd roll captain chairs or 5 with the 2nd roll bench.
