It's no secret that Ford Bronco values have skyrocketed in recent years, and today, it's getting difficult to find a decent example of any generation in nice condition for reasonable money. That's certainly true of the second-generation Ford Bronco, which has become a red hot collectible worth boatloads of money as of late. That doesn’t just apply to low-mile originals or finely-restored examples, either. Rather, restomodded SUVs like this 1978 Ford Bronco are raking in lots of cash as well, and that figures to once again be the case here.
This 1978 Ford Bronco is up for grabs at Bring a Trailer with several modern upgrades, as is evident from the exterior. There, one will notice the big-bodied SUV's Dark Jade Metallic and Wimbledon White paint, refinished a few years ago, along with 18-inch Rough Country wheels wrapped with 33×12.5-inch Venom Power Terra Hunter X/T tires. Those wheels cover four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes, as well as Rancho dampers with quad front shocks, too.
Inside, one will find a freshly redone cabin using bits from FreeWheelin Co., along with amenities such as a Vintage Air climate control system, Dakota Digital gauges, a custom center console, and a Boss floating touchscreen, plus a custom enclosure in the rear cargo area packed with a JL Audio amp and subwoofers.
Power comes from the modern-day Ford 5.0L V8 Coyote engine, which in this case is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, driving the rear or all four wheels.
We come across our fair share of updated second-generation Ford Bronco models these days, which are compelling because they combine fantastic factory styling with modern powertrains and amenities. That list also includes a rather gorgeous 1979 Bronco that popped up for sale back in May wearing Free Wheeling graphics and packing a 7.3L V8 Godzilla engine under its shiny hood.
