700K Ford Bronco Sport, Ford Escape SUVs Recalled Over Cracked Fuel Injectors

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport and 2020-2022 Ford Escape models equipped with the turbocharged 1.5L I-3 EcoBoost engine over an issue with the fuel injectors. This recall is an expansion of recalls 24S16 and 22S73.

The defect: in affected vehicles, a fuel injector may crack and leak fuel inside the engine compartment.

The hazards: a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: fuel injectors

Affected vehicles: select 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport models produced between February 5th, 2020, and February 8th, 2024, as well as 2020-2022 Escape crossovers built between November 19th, 2018, and December 16th, 2022.

Number of vehicles affected: 694,271

The fix: a remedy is currently under development. As an interim repair, dealers will update the engine control software, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin August 18th, 2025. Second letters will be sent once the remedy is available. The Ford reference number for this recall is 25S76.

  7. I love my Bronco Sport, which I received in March 2021. It now has 29,000 miles on it and has given me trouble-free service. However, Ford seems to be the leader in recalls due to poor design or the installation of cheap or untested parts. This fact is not good for Ford’s reputation.
