Ford Escape Driver Uses Middle Lane For Illegal Pass: Video

Some drivers treat their daily commute like a race, focused only on one thing: getting ahead of everyone else on the road. The driver of one Ford Escape took things to a dangerous level when they decided that the center lane – a turn lane – was their personal passing lane, blowing by several cars just to get to their destination a bit faster.

Video still of the Ford Escape using the center lane as an inappropriate passing lane. They would be stopped by the driver of a pickup just ahead of them.

The driver of the first generation Ford Escape was blasted on Reddit after the cammer posted the clip of their risky move to the r/IdiotsInCars community. The driver of the Escape doesn’t hesitate, just swings their SUV into the center turn lane and drops the hammer. Their momentum carries them past the cammer at a pretty good clip. Considering the dashcam’s readout says 58 mph, it can be assumed that traffic is already speeding – just not enough, clearly for the Escape.

The Escape blows by the cammer and gains on a black pickup driving ahead of them both. Clearly, the black pickup has no intention of playing the Escape’s games. The pickup drivers into the center lane, too, but not to pass, delivering some civilian street justice as they prevent the Ford Escape from continuing its questionable middle-lane shenanigans.

The Ford Escape actually uses its blinker after that, signaling that it’s headed back for its proper lane. It falls in behind the pickup that thwarted it – a good thing, because that center lane quickly goes away and becomes a left-hand turn lane. The pickup driver clearly knew what was coming and stepped in to prevent the Ford Escape from causing a head-on collision just to gain a few extra feet on the traffic around it.

“It ain’t called the suicide lane for nothing,” one user commented.

In a similar incident, the driver of a Ford Explorer thought they were too important to obey traffic laws just to get ahead of a few fellow motorists. A Ford Super Duty blindly followed a long line of cars making illegal passes, proving that it’s not always best to just follow traffic.
