Though Ford’s European EV ambitions haven’t quite taken off as previously expected – which is true of the market as a whole – sales of its all-electric models in that region continue to grow. The Blue Oval did wind up cutting back production of the Ford Explorer EV and Capri at at the Cologne Electric Vehicle Center in Germany to adjust for this demand shift, but the former model has remained a regular on Europe’s list of the top-selling EVs for months now. Now, customers in France can take advantage of special lease deals on that model, as well as the Puma Gen-E.
As part of its new “Social Leasing” system, Ford Puma Gen-E customer can snag a monthly payment as low as €139 ($158 USD) per month on the small electric crossover, or €159 ($181 USD) per month for the Ford Explorer EV. The automaker hasn’t yet released full details pertaining to these offers, but there are some stipulations, as one would imagine. For starters, customers have to reside in France to secure a special lease deal, and their reference tax income per share must be lower than €15,400 ($17,576 USD) as well.
Ford Explorer EV and Puma Gen-E lessees must use their personal vehicles for work transport duties, and a minimum of 5,000 vehicles are being reserved for those that live or work in an area that is facing air quality issues – as defined by the government. Otherwise, customers don’t have to put any money down, can lease the vehicles for 36 months, and are also eligible for €7,000 ($7,989 USD) per vehicle financed through energy savings certificates.
The Puma Gen-E just entered mass production this past March, along with the E-Tourneo Courier, and E‑Transit Courier, all of which are built at the joint-venture Ford Otosan Craiova Assembly plant in Romania. It hasn’t yet faced any labor concerns like the Cologne plant, where workers were recently granted certain job protections through 2032.
