Ford F-150 Earth’s Second Most Popular Pickup Of 2024

The Ford F-150 has long reigned supreme as one-half of the best-selling F-Series lineup, along with its stablemate, the Ford Super Duty. In the U.S., that duo has topped the sales charts for decades, proving to have real staying power among pickup shoppers. The Ford F-150 is also sold in a few select markets outside of the U.S., and even though those don’t total any sort of significant number, it was enough to rank the F-150 as the second most popular pickup across the entire globe in 2024.

This data comes to us from Felipe Munoz of JATO Dynamics, who recently posted a list of the top 10 best-selling pickups across the world in 2024. The Toyota Hilux topped the charts with 616,200 sales, beating out the Ford F-150, which recorded 594,100 sales last year – even though it’s sold in fewer places than the Hilux. The F-150’s chief rival, the Chevy Silverado, came in third with 418,300 global sales, while The Blue Oval also managed to make the top 10 with the Ford Ranger in fourth place and the F-250 holding down the tenth spot.

In 2022, the Ford F-150 ranked as the ninth best selling vehicle of any kind across the entire globe, and a year later, it moved up two spots to the seventh spot in 2023 after recording 623,000 sales – an 18 percent increase versus the year prior. That ranked it behind the Tesla Model Y (1,223,000 units), the Toyota RAV4 (1,075,000), Honda CR-V (846,000), Toyota Corolla (803,000), Toyota Corolla Cross (715,000), and Toyota Camry (650,000).

While a lot of vehicle shoppers in other parts of the world gravitate toward pickups for commercial purposes, that isn’t quite the case in the U.S. As Ford Authority previously reported, the F-150 accounted for less than 20 percent of commercial Ford Pro sales in 2024, while over 80 percent went to the retail side of the business in the ICE-focused Ford Blue division.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. Wow, Ford owners aren’t good at math? Hmm…you don’t have to be so good at math to know Ford didn’t take any bailout money like GM was forced to during the Great Recession. Apparently, Ford owners are pretty good at history. So if you want to hate on Ford, why don’t you go to one of your own biased websites and address those who want to entertain your drivel.
