Stolen Tow Truck Drops Ford Super Duty Onto Pickup: Video

Look, we get it: towing a vehicle isn’t easy. Especially if you’re already breaking the law and trying to make a run for it. Unfortunately, a Ford Super Duty paid the price for someone who tried just that when it careened off the back of the flatbed it was obviously not properly lashed to.

Video still of the Ford Super Duty that fell off a tow truck onto another vehicle, totaling it.

The odd, chaotic scene went down in Los Angeles, California, as reported by local outlet KTLA5. Los Angeles police responded to a vehicle theft call at 8:37 A.M. on June 29th, 2025. An unidentified man driving a tow truck attempted to run off with a Ford Super Duty that didn’t belong to him, but clearly didn’t remotely attempt to properly attach it it to the flatbed.

The tow truck was caught on a security camera, seen whipping around a corner of a residential street. Laws of physics kicked in and the Ford Super Duty was unceremoniously dumped off the back of the flatbed. Unfortunately, the Super Duty wasn’t the only victim – the pickup landed on top of a Toyota Tundra that was parked on the side of the street. An anonymous neighbor later told KLTA that the white pickup, which belonged to her father-in-law, didn’t make it through the accident and was totaled.

Losing the Ford Super Duty wasn’t enough to rein in the stolen tow truck driver, apparently. They continued to drive recklessly through the neighborhood – barely attached Super Duty still in tow – and managed to crash it into a power pole. That power pole was the final straw for the Super Duty’s tethers, apparently, because it finally broke free of the tow truck and came to rest. The suspect continued to run in what was, quite possibly, the worst choice of getaway car.

At the time of this writing, LAPD has not indicated if any arrests were made in connection to the bizarre incident. There’s also no word on the condition of the Super Duty.

This certainly isn’t the first time a Ford pickup has been involved in a strange towing accident. Earlier this year, the driver of a Ford F-150 made a grave miscalculation while towing a boat, creating a hazard for other passersby. A Ford tow truck also attempted to haul away a Chevy Silverado, but the Chevy’s owner fired back.

  1. Most likely keys were in the ignition & Shabazz couldn’t pass that up!

  2. Wouldn’t need a tow truck if the keys were in it.
