Straddling the (very thin) line between track-ready beast and street-legal pony car, the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is tacked up with quite a few carbon fiber parts. Some of these are standard, while some are available at an extra cost – and Ford Authority breaks down all the lightweight carbon fiber features that are offered on the blisteringly fast pony.
All examples of the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD feature carbon fiber body panels, ensuring that it stays light on its feet while maintaining contact with the track. The lightweight panels also helps keep the Mustang GTD responsive to even the lightest flick of the controls. The fenders, hood, trunk lid cover, door sills, front splitter, rear diffuser, and roof are also all composed of carbon fiber – all standard features, too.
Meanwhile, there are a number of optional carbon fiber goodies offered up on the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD. This includes an available aero package, which clads the Mustang GTD’s underbody in carbon fiber, inspired by features found on race cars and inspired by motorsport. It also boasts tech that would be considered illegal by many motorsports sanctioning bodies – like hydraulically controlled front flaps, which help manage airflow and balance along with the active rear wing.
The driveshaft is also made of carbon fiber – a standard feature found across all Mustang GTD units – and meshes with the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD’s innovative eight-speed transaxle, helping cut driveline weight and providing 50/50 weight distribution between the front and rear. But it doesn’t stop there, and carbon fiber elements are sprinkled throughout the interior, carrying the sporty theme inside the cockpit. Miko suede is paired with leather and carbon fiber, wrapping the driver and passenger in premium luxury both on and off the track.
Buyers who want to up the ante can opt for the Mustang GTD Carbon Series, which includes a host of additions that set it apart from the rest of the lineup, like an unpainted hood, roof, and rear “Tech Deck,” among other touches.
Thus far, there are very few 2025 Ford Mustang GTD units in existence. As Ford Authority exclusively reported, deliveries of the track-ready pony have already begun, putting them in the hands of their rather affluent buyers.
