Lincoln has been in a bit of a flux over the past few years, a luxury brand that seemingly lacked a bit of, well, direction. However, Ford’s strategy for Lincoln has become a bit clearer as of late, as the brand is laser-focused on providing customers with not only a cushy driving experience, but also, a bevy of wellness tech to help them relax while on the go. Along with its scientifically-proven Rejuvenate feature that does precisely that, Lincoln is also exploring additional wellness tech options via potential partnerships, but it may also soon offer customers far more in the way of customization options as well.
“EREV would be a perfect drivetrain for us. All-hybrid and EREV lineup, and maybe a few electric cars, but more on the affordable side,” Jim Farley said during a recent interview with Hagerty. “I don’t think we want to make an affordable hybrid as a Lincoln, but an affordable EV Lincoln, with over-the-top color choice and over-the-top interior customization would make sense.”
Companies like Porsche have offered a large array of customization options for years now, and with great success – after all, higher-end shoppers are oftentimes keen to spec their vehicles in a way that makes them unique. Such options can also be quite profitable for automakers, so it makes sense that Farley would be interested in adding them to the Lincoln lineup in some manner.
One thing Lincoln won’t force customers to do is pay for subscriptions to utilize certain features, which is something that a few of its rivals have already done. The brand also won’t be going all-electric anytime soon, as Farley himself admitted that he shut down that idea years ago, despite insistence from some of his team. Instead, as he mentioned here, The Blue Oval is more focused on hybrids and extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), which combine large battery packs with gas generators.

With Lincoln's soon to be "stellar" three vehicle lineup, they need all the help they can get.
Cadillac is full of itself with this customization and Lincoln needn't add to the stupidity.
Cadillac sells a lot more vehicles than Lincoln. Maybe Lincoln should be allowed to get back to a full lineup again and offer above Black label customization as well. But wait, we need another Mustang variant so that's where the dollars go.
Lincoln needs a lineup. What they have today, is pathetic. An incomplete lineup that has nothing to do against its competitors.
Lincoln is enjoying its best sales year in 18 years without any 4 door sedans. Wish they had them, but they are doing well. 2024 was a good year for them also.
I can’t believe that Lincoln is dropping the Corsair from the lineup in 2026. I have had several over the past few years. It is a great car for the money. The size is perfect for me. I get 30 mpg, with the air conditioning on, on my trips back and forth to NC. The interior is more upscale than Ford interiors. It is a comfortable vehicle and easy to drive. I’m sorry to see Ford is dropping all of the low cost vehicles in their lineup. Focus, Escape, Fusion, Edge, Taurus and now, Corsair….
all gone. Not enough profit in the smaller cars I guess. They are going to replace the Escape and Corsair with a $30,000 electric pickup. Not everyone wants an electric vehicle Jim.
"One thing Lincoln won’t force customers to do is pay for subscriptions to utilize certain features." That is exactly what Lincoln is doing to their customers who purchased a 2024 model. While every 2025 Lincoln comes standard with at least three years of Lincoln Connectivity, 2024 Lincoln owners only received a one year trial period. Once that's up, you have to buy a yearly subscription. Hey, Lincoln, why treat your 2024 customers who embraced the redesign right from the start so poorly?
