Boat ramp fails are among the most popular types of videos we come across on social media these days, mostly because, well, a lot of folks apparently don’t know how to launch or retrieve a water-going vessel. Typically, what happens is the driver backs too far down the ramp and the vehicle begins to take on water, at which point one of two things happens – they either manage to save it and get back up the ramp, or they float out in the river, lake, or ocean, with disastrous results. Recently, that same fate befell the driver of a Chevy Suburban, but luckily, a Ford Super Duty driver was able to help rescue the SUV.
This particular incident took place at Haulover Inlet in the Miami-Dade portion of Florida, which is apparently famous for being a great boating spot – but also, one that’s quite challenging to deal with given its strong currents, high winds, and various other hazards. It’s not exactly clear how this Suburban driver managed to submerge both the boat they were towing and the SUV itself in those waters, but the video kicks off after disaster has already struck.
The driver does their best to try and steer the Suburban back toward the boat ramp, but that’s not terribly easy to do when the tires aren’t contacting the ground. The guy in the boat even tries to help get things straightened out, but to no avail. After several failed attempts, a Ford Super Duty shows up to play the hero, and makes quick work of that task, helping to extract the big SUV in short order.
Of course, this is far from the first time that we’ve seen this sort of thing occur, as it’s clearly a common problem during warmer months. A few years ago, we saw a Chevy Silverado stuck in the water with a Dodge Ram attempting to free it from its precarious situation before a Ford F-150 came to the rescue, as well as a Ford Explorer whose driver was able to rescue himself.
