Lincoln Based 1966 Batmobile Replica Heading To Auction

Over the years, we’ve seen more than our fair share of Batmobile replicas surface for sale, which isn’t terribly surprising given the fact that the TV/movie star car is one of the more famous of its kind to ever exist. While there have been several versions of the Batmobile depicted on small and big screens over the years, many opt to stick with the original model, which appeared in the first Batman TV series. That includes this Lincoln-based 1966 Batmobile replica that’s now set to hit the auction block very soon.

This 1966 Batmobile replica is scheduled to cross the block at Mecum’s Larry’s Legacy sale next month, in fact, and it’s a pretty faithful copy of that TV famous ride, with some cool features, to boot. It was built to the same specifications as the original Batmobile, and that process took a whopping eight years and $175,000 to complete, according to the seller. The pricey machine rides on a custom chassis, with very specific bodywork and a revamped interior, to boot.

There are plenty of signature features present everywhere one looks, too – a beacon, a dash-mounted compass, a Batphone, radar system, and a remote stereo system, to name just a few. On top of that, the Batmobile replica shoots actual flames out of its rear turbine, and can produce smoke screens from its rocket tubes – perfect for getting the bad guys off one’s tail.

Power for this particular build comes from the 460 cubic-inch Ford V8, churning out 500 horsepower and mated to a C6 automatic transmission and Ford 9-inch rear end.

For those that have been looking for a good replica of the original Batmobile, they certainly don’t get much better than this. However, we have seen our fair share of other copies, including one based on both a 1978 and 1979 Lincoln Continental, and even one of the actual cars used in the filming of the original Batman series.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
