Production of the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD got off to a bit of a slow start early this year, which is to be expected for a brand new, bespoke machine that begins life as a regular old, partially-built pony car, only to be shipped to Multimatic in Canada for its rather comprehensive transformation into a true track weapon. However, we’ve seen production figures for the Ford Mustang GTD continue to rise with each passing month, though it seems like we’re on the verge of an even more notable jump very soon.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Ford Mustang GTD production has ramped up considerably in the past month or so, and Multimatic is now able to produce many more examples of the ultimate pony car than it has previously. “They’re making more and more of them. This is a simpler build than the [Ford] GT, so they can make them faster,” a source explained to Ford Authority.
We’ve been tracking Ford Mustang GTD production figures since the very beginning, watching as Multimatic produced just two examples in January in fact, none in February, three in March, one in April, 10 in May, 31 in June, 35 in July, and 36 in August. Thus far, that’s a total of 118 units, which isn’t a lot, even for a car that costs well north of $300k to procure. As Ford Authority exclusively reported yesterday, production of the GTD is currently capped at 1,700 units, though it could rise even higher if demand warrants it – as was previously the case with the Ford GT.
This news indicates that we can likely expect September production figures for the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD to come in far higher than what we’ve seen in the first eight months of the year. As Ford Authority previously reported, the GTD starts life at the Flat Rock Assembly plant in Michigan, where it’s assembled to the point where it reaches body-in-white status. From there, these partial Mustangs are shipped to Multimatic’s facility in Markham, Ontario, Canada, where that process is finished.
A much quicker version of the SUV.
Focus production is set to end this coming November.
It's joined by a few other Blue Oval models.
Adding two more affordable options, and a new mid-grade offering.
A truly nice, garage-kept example.
