Clankers Stumped By 2027 Ford Expedition Sludge: AI Slop Report

The 2027 Ford Expedition is indeed a real upcoming model, but misinformation is swirling around ceaselessly these days, much of it fueled by the built-in AI overview prevalent in just about every search engine. Strangely enough, while it does seem like it’s able to glean real information, it’s just not properly applied here, potentially leading curious Blue Oval enthusiasts astray.

Punching “2027 Ford Expedition” into Google returns some… interesting results from the search engine’s AI feature. While the actual AI overview admits that there’s precious little information regarding the model, asking Gemini – Google’s AI assistant – spits out something very different. Gemini would have you believe that the 2027 Ford Expedition is “expected to undergo a major shift toward electrification.” It does lend itself some credence, though, outlining that the all-electric Expedition was canceled, but a hybrid version is likely.

Beyond that, something strange happens toward the bottom of the report. Google’s AI overview starts spitting out information regarding the 2025 Ford Expedition – which, of course, is not really relevant here. As a reminder, the 2025 model year represented a complete redesign for the full-size SUV, bringing about all-new styling, features, and tech.

While all of these features will certainly make it to the 2027 Expedition, it’s just strange that the AI overview specifically calls out the 2025 model year when asked to provide information about the 2027 model. What’s even stranger is that there is legitimate information out there – the 2028 Expedition is definitely on its way, and it will likely be offered with a hybrid variant. Obviously, Google’s AI overview didn’t pick up on those details, and instead reached into the past for information about the full-size SUV.

As always, we’re issuing a word of caution: it’s always good to do your own research instead of relying on the bite-sized, often incorrect slop drummed up by AI “assistants.” If you don’t, you might fall for completely unfounded rumors and get your hopes up about models that don’t, and never will, exist – like the supposed 2026 Ford Excursion.
