Ford Explorer Slowly Trudges Through Red Before Hitting 18-Wheeler: Video

We’ve all seen our fair share of red light runners during our time on the roads, which is easily one of the more dangerous violations of traffic law one can commit. Drivers running red lights have caused plenty of wrecks – many of them catastrophic and even fatal – and yet, people continue to engage in that practice on a regular basis, all in an attempt to shave a few minutes off their drive time. Recently, that was nearly the case with this Ford Explorer driver, but thankfully, an 18-wheeler seems to have prevented a major accident from occurring.

In this video recently posted on Reddit, we get a great look at this shocking incident, where the Ford Explorer driver slowly creeps forward while sitting at a red light, eventually winding up right in the middle of the turn lane – which several vehicles are using legally at the time. Once those turning left get the red light, folks from the other side start moving through the intersection, and yet, the Ford Explorer driver just keeps on creeping forward.

This all stops when an 18-wheeler driver slows down after seeing this bizarre movement, but instead of stopping as well, it seems as if the Explorer driver hits the semi’s trailer, prompting the vehicle to finally come to a halt. The Explorer driver then backs up, at which point the semi moves forward, likely pulling over to call the law and settle this bizarre and completely unnecessary incident.

Unfortunately, this is just the latest of many red light runners we’ve seen cause accidents in recent months. Last last year, that included a Ford Ranger that blew a red light in Texas and wound up getting t-boned, as well as another Ford Explorer driver that swerved around a stopped car and semi truck, only to run a red light just this past June, too.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
