The Ford Ranger MS-RT (for M-Sport Road Technology) originally debuted back in 2021 as a sportier version of the mid-size pickup inspired by the automaker’s global rally racing efforts. Following the Ranger’s most recent redesign, the MS-RT returned in early 2024 for European customers as well, equipped with most of the same sorts of upgrades as its predecessor. Now that a plug-in hybrid powertrain has become available in the pickup for the very first time, Europe is also getting a Ford Ranger MS-RT PHEV variant, too.
Developed in conjunction with MS-RT – an offshoot of Ford’s rally partner, M-Sport – the new Ford Ranger MS-RT PHEV is easy to distinguish from regular models thanks to its honeycomb grille, integrated front splitter, rear bumper with a built-in diffuser, side skirts, ducktail and cab spoilers, and a 40mm (1.57 inches) lowered stance, which comes courtesy of bespoke suspension upgrades.
The suspension features revised dampers, and track width is 40mm greater on each side – requiring flared wheel arches that make the MS-RT 82mm (3.23 inches) wider up front. Those arches house a set of diamond-cut 21-inch wheels wrapped with 275/45 tires, while color options include bright hues like Turini Purple, Fast Blue, and Yellow Green. Inside, one will find sport seats upholstered in eco-leather and suede with blue contrast stitching plus extra bolstering, illuminated LED MS-RT badges, and a sculpted sports steering wheel with a blue 12 o’clock marker.
The powertrain present in the Ford Ranger MS-RT is what really sets it apart, however – the gas turbocharged 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost paired with an 11.8 kWh battery and 75 kW e-motor, which generates 281 PS (277 horsepower) and 697 Nm (514 pound-feet) of torque. That power flows to all four wheels via the 10-speed automatic transmission and e4WD full-time four-wheel drive system. On top of that, users can travel 40 miles on electric power alone.
Order banks for the new Ford Ranger MS-RT PHEV are slated to open up in Europe later this year, with the first deliveries set to take place in 2026.

Very impressive gains.
A stylish and sporty coupe with hybrid power, but no manual gearbox.
Something the development team was aiming for.
The Blue Oval is a hot topic among Redditors, it seems.
