In the UK, we’ve seen the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E reset a couple of Guinness Book World of Records as of late – for shortest charging time and fewest charging stops along the UK’s longest road trip, as well as for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge. Now that the Ford Transit is in the midst of celebrating 60 years of existence, The Blue Oval has claimed yet another Guinness World Records title, this time, for the largest parade of vans to ever gather in one place.
As part of its 60 years celebration for the Ford Transit, The Blue Oval asked owners across the UK to gather and attempt to set a new record for the most vans in a single convoy, and ultimately, 201 of them heeded that call – good enough to set a new mark for the Guinness World Records book. That convoy was quite diverse, as one might imagine, and consisted of everything from first-generation models to the newer E-Transit and Transit Custom, all of which are owned by passionate fans and commercial Ford Pro customers. Each received a special digital certificate to commemorate their part in making this all happen.
Once those Ford Transit van owners gathered, they proceeded to drive 29 miles to the Transit Festival at Chelmsford City Racecourse, where more than 2,500 enthusiasts were on hand to help celebrate the special occasion. “This record-setting achievement is a testament to the passion Transit inspires and to the versatility of the world’s best-selling cargo van,” said Lisa Brankin, Chair and Managing Director, Ford of Britain and Ireland. “Our Transit convoy demonstrated the huge variety of services made possible by Ford Pro and Ford’s industry-defining van across six decades.”
“At Guinness World Records, we document the incredible from all around the world, and the record achieved for the ‘largest parade of vans’ is a great example of this, especially as this event is in celebration of the iconic Ford Transit van – the appropriate vehicle to be setting a new Guinness World Records title,” added Carl Saville, Guinness World Records adjudicator.
