It may seem hard to believe now, but there was a time – not too long ago – when the Ford GT wasn’t hugely popular or valuable. Rather, one could easily go out and purchase a new or used example of the first-generation Ford GT, specifically, for sticker price or even less. That’s no longer the case, of course, as the market for the first-generation Ford GT is currently on fire, quickly gaining on the second-generation model in terms of values. Thus, this low-mile 2006 Ford GT is sure to garner its fair share of attention when it crosses the auction block soon.
This 2006 Ford GT is scheduled to cross the block at Barrett-Jackson’s upcoming fall Scottsdale auction next month, and it’s a true gem with just 1,284 miles on the clock. It’s finished in Speed Yellow with black-painted brake calipers, making it one of just 31 produced in that specific spec among a total production run of 2,011 units, too. It’s also equipped with all four available options for this model year – the McIntosh sound system, lightweight forged wheels, painted black racing stripes, and the aforementioned black calipers.
Power for this Ford GT comes from an enhanced, supercharged variant of the 5.4L V8, which was factory-rated to churn out 550 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque, which flows to the rear two wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential.
As such, given what we’ve seen similar cars sell for as of late, it would come as zero surprise to see this 2006 Ford GT rake in huge money when it crosses the auction block next month.
It was just this past June when a 2005 GT once owned by Barry Meguiar, President of Meguiar’s Inc., hit the auction block and sold for an eye-opening $535,000, in fact, and it’s just one of many that have sold for increasingly large sums of money in recent months.
