While handy in the event of a flat, standard spare tires are becoming increasingly rare among vehicles on the more affordable side of the automotive industry. The 2026 Ford Maverick is one of the models to have its standard spare tire yanked from certain trims altogether, while it remains standard fare on others.
The conventional spare tire is no longer standard on several 2026 Ford Maverick configurations. It’s not standard on any Hybrid all-wheel-drive (AWD) model, and it’s also been deleted from all models featuring the turbocharged 2.0L EcoBoost I4. Instead, these trims get the tire inflator and seal kit as standard, although the conventional spare tire can still be had as a standalone, extra-cost option. At the time of this writing, pricing for this has not been revealed.
Specifically, that means that the spare tire is not standard on the XL, XLT, Lobo, or Lariat when the 2.0L EcoBoost or Hybrid AWD configurations are equipped. However, the spare tire is standard on the XL or XLT trims with the Hybrid front-wheel-drive (FWD) powertrain. It’s also standard on the 2026 Ford Maverick Tremor and is included as part of the FX4 Off-Road Package.
The 2026 Maverick also loses its power sliding rear window, gaining standard fixed privacy glass across the lineup instead. In terms of aesthetics, Black Ford ovals are no longer offered on the compact pickup as a factory installed option after previously being included on the Tremor and Lobo trims, which means blue Ford ovals are standard on all trims. Wireless smartphone charging is also a thing of the past, and is no longer offered on any trim.
Despite all the deletions, the 2.0L FWD combination is once again available after being briefly gone for the 2025 model year. The 2026 Maverick is also gaining two new exterior color options known as Orange Fury Metallic Tri-Coat and Marsh Gray.
To help meet demand, Ford is boosting production capacity for popular configurations, including XL, Hybrid, and Lariat in all-wheel-drive (AWD) guise. Pricing for the entry level 2026 Maverick XL starts at $27,145, not including destination freight charges.

I am getting tired of paying more for less from these car companies
Not only did I not know that when I bought my 2025 XLT hybrid they even eliminated paper version of owners manual. It’s only available electronically. What a cheap ass rip off.
Tried searching the electronic manual for tire information and it came up with the answer no information available!! Really!!
I’m sure glad that they include a tire inflator and seal kit instead. That will come in handy as I wait by the side of the road with my tire shredded as the result of a blowout.
Shame shame all extras that maverick losing
