The first-generation Ford Bronco has been incredibly popular for a long time now, and as a result, it isn’t exactly easy to find one for a good value. These days, finding a nice Ford Bronco from those early days of any kind for a reasonable price isn’t terribly easy to do, whether we’re talking about a low-mile original, a modified restomod, or anything in between. Now, this very nice 1970 Ford Bronco that’s been updated in many ways is looking to become the latest to rake in big bucks at auction.
This 1970 Ford Bronco is scheduled to cross the block at Mecum’s 2025 Dallas/Fort Worth auction in early November, and it’s a long way from stock following an extensive, rotisserie makeover performed by Southside Custom in Albert Lea, Minnesota over the course of around three years. That process included sandblasting the body and chassis to bare metal before spraying the outside in Ford’s Cyber Orange paint, joining a set of 20-inch KMC beadlock wheels wrapped in 35-inch Nitto Grappler tires.
Making room for those big rollers is a Wild Horses 3,5-inch body and suspension lift kit, plus Fox shocks. One will also find limited-slip axles, a rebuilt 9-inch rear end with 3.73 gears, a rebuilt Dana 30 front differential, and Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners underneath.
Inside the cabin, this vintage Bronco has been treated to a full-blown makeover featuring black leather seats with Cyber Orange stitching, Bronco pony logos, interior panels, and headliner, plus a Vintage Air HVAC system, a new steering column, a custom steering wheel, and Dakota Digital gauges – upgrades that reportedly cost $15,000 alone.
Power for this 1970 Bronco comes from a modern place, too – the second-generation 5.0L V8 Coyote engine, which has been treated to a Gen 5 Whipple supercharger and custom headers. It’s mated to the 6R80 automatic transmission, and is cooled by an aluminum radiator with an electric fan. It’s a nice, comprehensive build for sure, and one we imagine will conjure up plenty of interest at auction.
