Fresh off its 2025 refresh, the 2026 Ford Maverick sees a few subtle updates including the return of front-wheel-drive (FWD) paired with the 2.0L EcoBoost I4. Another change buyers should note concerns the optional FX4 Package, which gets a tweak to its wheel options.
According to sources familiar with the matter, on the 2026 Ford Maverick XLT, the FX4 Off-Road Package no longer includes its 17-inch Unique Ebony painted aluminum wheels. Instead, the package now exclusively features the 17-inch Carbonized Gray painted aluminum wheels, the same design that’s already standard on the XLT trim. Those unique wheels are no longer offered on the 2026 Ford Maverick at all.
With the deletion of its Unique wheels, content bundled into the 2026 Maverick FX4 Off-Road Package is as follows:
- Conventional 17-inch Spare Tire (215/70R17)
- All-Terrain Tires
- Exposed Front Tow Hooks
- FX4 Off-Road Box Decal
- Higher-Capacity Radiator
- Hill Descent Control
- Off-Road Screen in Instrument Cluster
- Performance Suspension
- Selectable Drive Modes
- Slippery
- ECO
- Normal
- Sport
- Tow/Haul
- Off-Road
- Skid Plates
- Upgraded Cooling Fan
At the time of this writing, pricing for the 2026 Ford Maverick FX4 Off-Road Package is not available. However, it’s worth noting that it is priced at $800 for the 2025 Ford Maverick.
The inclusion of the conventional spare tire in the FX4 Off-Road Package is particularly notable, considering that it’s no longer standard across the lineup. Black Ford Ovals are also a thing of the past, meaning that all examples of the 2026 Maverick feature standard blue Ford emblems. The wireless charging pad has also been killed off.
Other updates include the deletion of the power-sliding rear window as standard equipment on the 2026 Ford Maverick Tremor and Lariat trims, although it’s still available as an optional extra. It’s also a late-availability option on the Lobo High equipment group.
To help meet demand, Ford is boosting production capacity for the XL, Hybrid, and Lariat AWD models.
