Ford has partnered with third-party EV charging provider Electrify America since the day it launched its very first line of electric vehicles years ago, and continues to enjoy a good relationship with that company today. We’ve watched as Electrify America has expanded its network significantly over that time frame as well, adding new and faster chargers for customers to utilize when they’re out on the road. Now, that same company has debuted a new and rather useful feature that Ford EV owners will likely be glad to see.
That feature is the integration of real-time Electrify America charger data into Google Maps, giving EV owners up to the minute info regarding those charging stations via Google Maps. This feature builds upon Google’s existing real-time charger availability feature by making it easier and more convenient for users to determine which charging station is best for their needs, as well as improving route planning.
Thanks to this update, Google Maps will show live details as they pertain to charger availability, connector types, charging speeds, and operational status within that application, as it pertains to Electrify America charging stations.
Back in early 2024, Ford EVs were the very first to get real-time battery information with Google Maps, providing owners with an estimated battery level upon their arrival at their selected destination, as well as suggested charging stops along the way and estimates of how long it will take to charge that specific vehicle at its current state of charge when it arrives. This past March, those same vehicles got Apple Maps EV Routing in CarPlay, too.
“EV adoption is accelerating, and with it comes the expectation of a seamless charging experience, said Robert Barrosa, president and CEO of Electrify America. “By integrating real-time charging station data, we’re not just improving access, we’re empowering drivers with the confidence to go electric, knowing the information is right at their fingertips.”
Adding an earthy - but flashy - look to the rugged crossover.
Whatever the case, it does sound pretty good.
Another faithful tribute to a TV famous ride.
