About Ford Explorer
The 2026 Ford Explorer arrives sporting quite a few notable updates and changes over the refreshed 2025 Ford Explorer.
The biggest news is the arrival of the first-ever 2026 Ford Explorer Tremor, filling the void left behind by the discontinuation of the off-road-focused Timberline after the 2024 model year. Two powertrain options are available, with the first being the standard turbocharged 2.3L EcoBoost I4, rated for 300 horsepower. The second, as exclusively reported by Ford Authority, is the twin-turbocharged 3.0L EcoBoost V6, boasting 400 horses. Check out our photo gallery to see the new Tremor from every angle.
Additionally, the Platinum drops the 3.0L V6 EcoBoost as an option, making the 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost the default powerplant for that trim level, as we were first to report. The Platinum also drops the Ultimate Package.
The 2026 Explorer lineup loses its Panoramic Vista Roof, replacing it with the optional Panoramic Fixed Glass Roof, which, unlike the previous piece, cannot be opened, even partially. It also drops the dealer-installed SecuriCode keyless entry keypad option, making it solely a factory-installed accessory.
But the performance-oriented ST trim gains a second row bench seat option, increasing the crossover's seating capacity from six to seven passengers. Two captain's chairs with E-Z Entry and armrests remain standard on the 2026 Explorer ST, Active, and Platinum trims.
Here are all the available colors, the wheel options, and packages.
Pricing for the 2026 model year shows the best-selling three-row crossover actually more affordable for two trims along with, surprisingly enough, the new Tremor variant, which is $1,000 cheaper. These include the new base model Active trim - with the 100A equipment group - which is $1,720 less, and the more luxurious Platinum, down a nice $1,695. In September, however, the 2026 Explorer lineup got slightly more expensive, up $135 across the board. These include a destination/delivery charge of $1,695, which increases $100.
