The act of using a drive-thru - whether it be for retrieving food or making transactions at a bank - is a pretty simple one, but then again, we haven't seen many simple tasks that people can't figure out a way to mess up. Rather, we've come across our fair share of drive-thru fails over the years, many of them involving folks driving Ford vehicles, though this phenomenon obviously isn't limited to them. However, the driver of a Ford Focus hatchback just added another to that growing list thanks to a bit of a miscalculation when pulling up to a fast food drive-thru window recently.
In this video posted to Reddit recently, we get a great view of the monumental mishap, which occurs as the Ford Focus driver is rounding the corner and heading to pick up a late night snack at McDonald's in Galt, California. However, that person somehow missed the giant yellow concrete pole designed to prevent folks from running into the restaurant itself, and simply smashed right into it.
The driver doesn't seem to be too terribly phased by their accident, however, as they just back up a bit and proceed to the window, paying for their order, and then heading to the next window to pick it up. The good news is, it doesn't seem as if the hatchback damaged the building or even the pole - which is precisely why those types of things exist. It's unclear if the driver was intoxicated, on their phone, or just not paying attention, but all are certainly possibilities.

In any event, this certainly isn't the first time we've seen a vehicle experience a major drive-thru mishap. In fact, a few years ago, we watched as a Ford Super Duty driver managed to destroy the camper they were pulling while doing the same sort of thing. These kinds of accidents are likely at least part of the motivation behind Ford's patent filing for a drive-thru traffic management system this past July, too.
