Ford Mustang Wins Not Once But Twice In Grueling Supercars Contest

The storied Gold Coast street course always produces intense racing for the Australian Supercars Championship - and in the series' first year of an elimination-style championship, the stakes were even higher for the twin races on October 25th and 26th, 2025. All said and done, Chaz Mostert and his Ford Mustang GT battled through to win both contests, putting him in striking distance of the 2025 series title.

Mostert - piloting the No. 25 Ford Mustang GT - leveraged his race car's speed and strategy to propel himself to the top of the leaderboard. The Supercars Championship recently adopted a "win and you're in" philosophy for its championship, taking after NASCAR (ironically, one year before NASCAR overhauls its controversial format). That means victories are critical as the season draws to a close, and five Ford Mustang racers will carry The Blue Oval's banner heading into the title's zenith.

"I had my angry eyes on," Mostert said after putting his Ford Mustang in Victory Lane for the first time over the weekend, following it with, "Pretty pumped, just to get two wins this weekend," after battling to Sunday's victory as well.

Young Ford racer Kai Allen joined Mostert on the podium on Saturday, finishing third. Cam Waters brought his Mustang GT home in fourth. Mostert was the sole Ford on the podium on Sunday, with the next-best Mustang finishing fourth, guided by Matt Payne.

The other Ford drivers that will head into the next round of the championship alongside Mostert are Payne, Cam Waters, Allen, and Thomas Randle. Ryan Wood and Brodie Kostecki were eliminated - Wood's Mustang suffered a fuel system issue, while Kostecki crashed out on Saturday, forcing his team to throw the race car back together overnight. While both drivers were able to race on Sunday, they did not perform well enough to advance.

Currently, Mostert holds down second in Supercars Championship points, following the Chevy of Broc Feeney in first. Payne is third, Waters is fourth, and Chevy's Will Brown rounds out the top five with two contests left in the 2025 season.
