WD-40 Sponsored 2005 Ford GT Rebuild Heading To 2025 SEMA Show

As Ford Authority reported early last month, the YouTube channel Throtl recently acquired a wrecked 2005 Ford GT - a vehicle that was written off as unrepairable. It's pretty easy to see why that was the case, even though these cars are worth a considerable amount of money these days, as this example was in literal pieces, with many of them mangled up.

Regardless of that dismal outlook, the plan was to have this Ford GT rebuilt in time for the 2025 SEMA Show in November, where it will take up residence in the WD40 booth - and that appears to be on track to happen. In fact, WD40 has announced that this previously destroyed 2005 Ford GT will in fact be on display in its booth when SEMA kicks off on Tuesday, November 4th - which is also when the rebuilt machine will be unveiled in its final form.

“We could not think of a more fitting stage to debut one of the most challenging, yet rewarding projects the Throtl team has taken on,” said Evan Beckerman, co-founder of Throtl Inc. “Our fans know and love our vehicle restorations, and with this Ford GT, we pushed the boundaries of what’s possible. WD-40 Brand gave us the right tools and products necessary to restore this American supercar, and we’re thrilled to share the long-anticipated results at SEMA 2025.”

The team at Throtl didn't just return this Ford GT back to its stock guise, however - rather, it's been fitted with an array of custom and aftermarket parts. Those include a Doran GT2 carbon fiber body kit, custom three-piece HRE forged wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, 3D-printed headlights, Fortune Auto coilovers, a Wilwood big brake kit, a CSF cooling package, Vibrant Titanium exhaust system, Speedhut gauges, and Sparco SPX seats, to name just a few. Thus far, we only have one rendering to go by, however.
