Related | 5.2L Predator |
The Ford 5.2L Carnivore engine is a variant of the Ford Predator engine used in the S550-gen Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. Since the Carnivore is used to power a high-performance pickup truck (as opposed to a muscle car), Ford tuned the engine to make more low-end torqu and less horsepower compared to the Predator. This was achieved by using a different supercharger pulley and a different calibration, resulting in the Carnivore making 25 more pound-feet of torque but 40 less horsepower than the Predator.
In addition, the Carnivore is mated to Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission (10R80) – a more potent version of Ford’s 10-speed transmission – as opposed to the Predator, which hooks up to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Vehicle Applications
The 5.2L Ford Carnivor engine is used only in the 14th-generation Ford F-150 Raptor R.

Engine Family
The Carnivore is part of the Ford Modular engine family – a series of V8 gasoline engines used in various vehicles. More specifically, the Carnivore is part of the Ford 5.2L Modular engine range, which represents a series of hand-built, high-performance V8 engines displacing 5.2 liters.
Successor
The Carnivore will likely be succeeded by the Legend engine in the F-150 Raptor R variant of 15th-generation Ford F-150.
