While most tuning outfits happily shared every last detail of their unique SEMA-bound concept builds well in advance of the show itself, the folks at Shelby American saved the best for last: the 2016 Ford Shelby F-150.
The Shelby F-150 boasts more than 45 proprietary, high-performance enhancements over the factory full-size pickup, including an optional supercharger package which conjures a bigger cold air intake, high-flow throttle body made of billet aluminum, an aluminum heat exchanger, high-flowing injectors, and obviously, a different ECU tune. All told, the 2016 Shelby F-150 makes around 700 horsepower with this supercharger package – plenty more than either Roush Performance or Hennessey have managed to extract.
Fortunately, the truck’s chassis has been revised to keep up with that stratospheric amount of thrust. The Shelby F-150 has a unique suspension engineered by BDS Suspension, utilizing four 2.5-inch Internal Reservoir Bypass shocks with dual Speed Adjusters. The truck rides on custom 18-inch Shelby wheels, sporting BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 offroading tires. And of course, Shelby American didn’t forget about styling. The 2016 Shelby F-150 looks every bit as supreme as it is, featuring a horizontally-bisected grille, a mean-looking intake snout positioned at the front of the hood bulge, front fender vents, a highly-visible front skid plate, and classic Shelby stripes and script throughout.
Only 500 examples of the 2016 Shelby F-150 will be built and sold, through a select dealer network. The truck starts at just $85,495, or $98,995 if one selects the optional supercharger package.
