The recent release of Ken Block’s “Gymkhana 8” video, in which he tears up the pavement all across the UAW coastal city of Dubai, did more than just raise our heart rates and make us yearn for a souped-up Fiesta. It introduced us to Ken Block’s next special hoon-mobile: the Ford Focus RS RX.
We have no idea. After the Gymkhana 8 ending credits, a computer rendering of a Ford Focus modified almost beyond recognition appears on the screen, along with the promise that this “Ford Focus RS RX” is “coming soon to Gymkhana Nine.” The car sits very low to the ground, and has enough aggressive-looking bodywork so as to make the production Ford Focus RS look positively banal.
We presume that the Ford Focus RS RX is to be the successor to Gymkhana 8’s starring Fiesta ST RX43, although whether it’s derived from road car or rally car remains to be seen. So, too, what sort of power it makes, and what capabilities it will offer over the production Focus RS.
All that said, we’re fairly confident it’s not bound for production. Stay tuned.
