Spy photographers have again spotted a test mule for the forthcoming fourth-generation Ford Focus hatchback, this time being tested on public roads in Europe. Auto Express has the images.
Like the Ford Focus test mule spotted stateside last month, this car shows obvious signs of having swollen in both length and width. The new, longer wheelbase ought to help the next Ford Focus approach or match rivals like the Vauxhall Astra and Volkswagen Golf in the legroom department, says Auto Express.
As for engine options, the US Ford Focus will likely continue to offer the 1.0-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder, and might pick up a 1.5-liter EcoBoost I4 like that offered in Europe. In Europe, diesel options will continue to be in the mix. Ford just recently filed a trademark application for the name “EcoBlue,” which is likely to be a new moniker for the automaker’s line of diesel powerplants, according to Auto Express.
