Far be it from us to judge another person for his or her life choices, but this video is at least puzzling, if not irksome.
A YouTube channel called “supercarsofmunich” recently published a clip of a man driving a brand-new, bright-red Ford Mustang GT through the city, parking along the curb, and hopping out to beg for change for a few hours. It looks to have been recorded in Munich, Germany, as the S550 Ford Mustang in-question sports a left-hand-drive configuration along with the Europe-spec clear taillight lenses.
While our first instinct upon seeing this video was tothe man in it a scammer, there is certainly a range of other, more sympathetic possibilities. Perhaps he bought the new Ford Mustang GT shortly before his life took a turn for the worse, for instance. Maybe he lost his job, or he’s contracted an illness for which Germany’s government-funded healthcare provides insufficient coverage. Heck, maybe he was pulling a prank for a German TV show.
Or maybe he bought himself the brand-new Ford Mustang with funds he raised by being one of the most successful beggars of all time.
The Ford Mustang last year became the best-selling sports coupe in the world, with more than 100,000 new registrations worldwide. As of March, 2016, the Mustang was also the best-selling sportscar in Germany, outselling the likes of the Porsche 911 Carrera and Audi TT Quattro. The GT model starts at the equivalent of roughly $50,000 US there.
