New Ford F-600 Super Duty Debuts

The new Ford F-600 Super Duty Chassis Cab truck, which is of course based on the new Ford Super Duty line of trucks, has made its official debut at The Work Truck Show in Indianapolis.

The new F-600 fills the “sweet spot” between the F-550 and F-650, Ford says. The body and chassis are the same size as an F-550, but the F-600 uses a beefier driveline and some other more robust chassis components that give it a higher GVWR. It also gets higher-weight-rated 19.5-inch tires and wheels.

All engines from the Super Duty range are offered in the F-600, including the two gas engines, a 6.2-liter V8 and a new 7.3-liter V8, along with the third-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8.The automaker hasn’t said how much power the gas engines are making in the Super Duty, but the 6.2-liter is rated at 385 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque in the 2019 F-Series Super Duty, while the 7.3-liter is described as being “the most powerful gas V8 in its class.” The 6.7-liter is good for 450 hp and 935 lb-ft of torque.

Ford’s new 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission is available across the range, with the six-speed automatic serving as the base transmission. Ford says the 10-speed “features a wider gear ratio span than the 6-speed and is designed for the harshest towing conditions.” The 10-speed is also available with a live-drive power takeoff system with up to 300 lb.-ft. of torque.

The 2020 Ford F-600 Super Duty can be ordered in early 2020, the automaker says, with sales and deliveries beginning in mid 2020.
