After receiving a few minor updates for the 2021 model year including a handful of styling tweaks and a number of tech upgrades, the 2022 Ford Edge followed suit with some additional changes, as Ford Authority has reported over the last few months. Now, sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority that the 2022 Ford Edge will temporarily drop its chrome steering wheel bezel, too.
The temporary deletion applies to 2022 Ford Edge SEL, ST-Line, and Titanium trims, and is directly related to the same supply chain constraints that have prompted Ford – and a number of other automakers – to remove certain features from a variety of models in an effort to speed up deliveries. Affected Edge models started being built with a black steering wheel bezel in place of the typical chrome piece back on March 25th, and that deletion will continue through April 8th on all retail, fleet, and stock orders.
In addition to this change, the 2022 Ford Edge also deleted its previously standard rear parking sensors, though that feature is still available as part of the Black Appearance Package for SE trims, and is standard equipment on SEL trims and above. As Ford Authority reported last August, the crossover also dropped its front-wheel drive configuration and is now only available with all-wheel drive. The aforementioned Black Appearance Package is new for 2022, as is the SEL Adventure Package, though the latter received a name change to Sport Appearance Package shortly after its launch.
Additionally, the 2022 Edge lost its illuminated glovebox, as Ford Authority reported last August, while the ST dropped its Ford Performance paint color option in favor of Atlas Blue and the SEL dropped the SecuriCode Keyless Entry Keypad as standard equipment.
