Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2016 and 2020 Ford Transit Connect models due to a windshield adhesion safety issue. Select 2020-2021 Ford F-Series vehicles and 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E models were also recently recalled for this same problem.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the front windshield may have been manufactured with inadequate adhesion to the vehicle body structure.
The hazards:Â during a crash, the windshield may detach from the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.
Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.
Components: windshield.
Affected vehicles: select 2016 and 2020 Ford Transit Connect models built between December 1st, 2015, and June 30th, 2016, as well as November 1st, 2015, and February 29th, 2020.
Number of vehicles affected: 39,720
The fix:Â dealers will inspect the windshield and, if necessary, remove and reinstall the windshield, free of charge.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin the week of April 18th, 2022. The Ford reference number for this recall is 22S20.
