When the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning was revealed back in May 2021, FoMoCo noted that variants equipped with the extended range battery were expected to accelerate from 0-60 miles-per-hour in around 4.5 seconds, though many independent testers have achieved better results on the months since. However, an official 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning 0-60 time was never released, at least until now. Interestingly, Ford CEO Jim Farley tweeted out those results, which come in at less than 4.0 seconds, which is blazingly quick.
Farley didn’t get specific with that particular time, though we imagine that the extended range battery-equipped 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is likely in the high 3.9-second range. That particular variant also wound up generating more power than originally targeted, and officially pumps out 580 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque, while models equipped with the standard range battery get 452 horsepower and the same 775 pound-feet of torque, which his good enough to propel it to 60 in just 4.1 seconds.
These are impressive numbers for any sort of vehicle, let alone a relatively heavy EV pickup, but there are also many other attributes that have helped make the F-150 Lightning a big success thus far. As Ford Authority reported yesterday, dealer stock continues to turn in just eight days – in spite of hefty markups in many cases – a figure that hasn’t tapered off one bit.
Meanwhile, Ford continues to battle various supply chain constraints as it works to fill all of its F-150 Lightning orders. Just last week, Ford Authority spies spotted a large number of what the automaker calls “vehicles on wheels” – or unfinished vehicles awaiting parts – parked near the Flat Rock Assembly plant in Michigan, which is where the Ford Mustang is built.

no. being quick is a byproduct of the large battery. the larger the battery, the more quickly you can pull from it and charge it. think of the battery like a bucket: the bigger the bucket, the more you can pour in (and out) easily without spilling.
