Following its debut early last year, the next-generation Ford Ranger has launched in a host of global markets – except for the U.S., where the new mid-size pickup and the high-performance Ranger Raptor are both set to launch later this year for the 2024 model year. As such, we already have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the American version of the new Ranger, though there will ultimately be a few differences worth noting. Regardless, Ford Authority has spotted a handful of U.S.-spec 2024 Ranger models out and about recently, including a completely uncovered SuperCrew, what appears to be a Tremor SuperCab, a Ranger Raptor on the assembly line, and a rather salty Ranger Raptor sitting in a parking lot. Now, Ford Authority has spotted this U.S.-market 2024 Ford Ranger XLT driving around fully uncovered, too.

This 2024 Ford Ranger XLT appears to be a four-wheel drive model with tow hooks up front, but it’s also is a bit different than the previously-spied examples of the new mid-sizer. In fact, it’s possible that this particular pickup is equipped with some sort of black appearance package, given the presence of blacked-out trim throughout the exterior.

The current-gen Ranger is offered with the optional Black Appearance Package, which is available with XLT Mid, XLT High, and Lariat High versions of the pickup. It adds a host of blacked-out components such as 18-inch black-painted aluminum wheels, a black Ford logo, fender vent surrounds, mirror caps, sill plates, lower front fascia, front grille, and running boards, along with body-color front and rear bumpers.

Otherwise, this 2024 Ford Ranger XLT features the same updated exterior styling as previously-spied prototypes, along with side marker indicators, which are a regulatory requirement in the U.S. Inside the cabin, the next-gen Ranger features a standard 10.1-inch or optional 12-inch infotainment screen, Sync 4 (rather than Sync 3, as is the case with the current model), and a digital instrument cluster.

The new Ranger continues to ride on the Ford T6 platform shared with the sixth-generation Ford Bronco – though it has received some updates. It’s unclear what engines might be available in the 2024 Ford Ranger at this time, but it’s likely that the new pickup will retain the turbocharged Ford 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost as its base powerplant.

As Ford Authority reported back in September 2021, the 2024 Ford Ranger is expected to enter production at the Ford Michigan Assembly Plant in May of 2023.

We’ll have more on the 2024 Ford Ranger soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Ranger news and ongoing Ford news coverage.

  • Years ago a base XL pickup had black mirrors bumpers etc now they made it into a package that we will need to spend more money on. Give me a break Ford.

  • Before y'all get too excited about models and trims wait until the release. Supercab prototypes have been spied but that's no guarantee.

    Longer bed discussions as well.
Unfortunately, regardless if they made a 100 variations it still wouldn't suit everyone.
There are more questions than answers at this point. If Toyodor is your best option, go for it. I will stick with the blue oval but everybody has options.
Can Ford even meet demand? At this point they are failing miserably.

    • Make a hybrid with minimum 2.4kW in bed and I'm in. I'll give up my 7.2kW power boost for it just to have 85% capability for 65% of price and be able to park it. Throw in a longer bed crew cab and it's a suburban dream.

  • Ford is so afraid of the Ranger stealing F150 buyers that it gave the Ranger less appealing looks. I was really hoping they would have changed the front end mainly the "bumper" to look more similar to the Bronco. I've been anxiously awaiting this new design but now I'm just extremely disappointed. The new Colorado/Canyon, Frontier or Tacoma is what I will be looking into.

  • Are all the 4 door, 4wd, monochrome trucks what people want, or just what the manufacturers produce? The current Ranger XLT offers 6 monochrome shades and only 3 colors (2 reds and a blue). I've given up on buying off the lot and plan to custom order a redesigned extended (not crew) cab midsized truck. Come on Ford, breath some life into what is an otherwise bland design by teasing us with something other than another gray sheep.

    • Dude, on anything but top trims it does seem people like monochrome. All my millennial peers say they don't like chrome...but then I get a chrome package lariat f150 and they love it lol

  • Do they make or can you get a rear wheel drive only Ranger? Does anyone know how high the rocker panel is from the road or is it easy to get into?

  • Gosh what a disappointment. I hope Chevy got the mechanicals right on the Colorado because it looks SOOOOOO much better than this thing. I thought they'd toughen the front end up like the current gen with some real bumpers and save an otherwise ho-hum design, but they didn't. It already looks dated. Maybe it's because Ford can't figure out supply constraints because they are putting all their eggs in the set up for failure EV basket? Bye bye Ford.

  • Based on my (stellar) near 6-year ownership experience with a 2017 Colorado, AND the appeal of the next-gen Colorado, there's really no reason to step on a Ford lot when it's time to trade. Dull and unimaginative!

      • Settle down fanboi, you're gonna have a stroke defending this turd of a truck. It's ugly and boring. Ford thinks everybody wants an EV that gets 80 miles towing. Farley has Ford so woke and with products and decisions like these, they will be so broke in a few short years. I've owned Ford's my whole life, but the truth doesn't hurt me. I'll just keep my 2021 F-150 long term and remember what Ford used to be and not what has fastly become.

  • I agree 100% with this new look 2024 Ranger and we really won't know the official true looks till Ford releases this 2024 Ranger to the public. Orders are suppose to start in May of this year, you would think Ford would of announced the New Resigned USA Ranger by now.
Too many unknowns for me to do this waiting game, so I went an ordered an 22 Ranger Supercab 4x4 XLT and after 9 months of ownership I am 100% happy with my decision.
Ford is seeing the Present Ranger Supercab in Orders with mine and many other 2022 and 2023 model years, sure not as many as the crewcab but like others have stated, not everyone needs the use of a 4 Dr 5 foot bed Ranger crewcab.
Now if I had waited and got the 2023 Ranger instead of the 2022, it would of cost me at a minimum additional $5000 more Vs the 2022, so another wise decision to get the 2022. (I would loss out on the Dealers $2000 off if I ordered through them, which they are not offering this $2K rebate for a ordered 2023, $500 additional Ford rebate on top of the current $1000 if you place an order with Ford and the Dealer only charged me a $99 doc fee instead of their usual $599 doc fee and they gave back to me the $500 out of the Doc fee. Plus the 2023 MSRP increased $2000 over the 2022, then on top of the $5K, the excellent trade-in $ the Dealer gave me back in April 2022)
And yes, Ranger's can be had in 2 wheel drive, I've seen a few recently.
The biggest issue I see coming for the 2024 model is the current sharing with the highly profitable Bronco. Back in 2019 when the Ranger was reintroduce in the US, the sell numbers were very decent but that was before the Bronco.
My ordered 2022 Ranger took exactly 4 1/2 months from day of order to me picking up the 22 Ranger, in comparison my ordered 2016 F350 took exactly 31 day's. All of my previous ordered Ford's, never took more than 60 day's but that was when parts, all parts were available, not the shortages and completing for chip's as we have today.
Ford needs to improve big time in the ordering process though, way to lax in keeping the customer of the current status of your ordered Ford product. If pushed back with build date, Ford needs to give the reason why for this delay, not the current no info email alert (s).
Sure would be nice if the 2024 Ranger retains the Supercab model, something GM stop doing starting with the 2023 Canyon and Colorado's.
