Back in October 2023, the United Auto Workers (UAW) reached a tentative agreement on a new master contract with Ford – and later, General Motors and Stellantis – which effectively ended a six-week-long targeted strike by the union, which was ratified by workers shortly thereafter. However, the UAW didn’t exactly rest on its laurels, and instead, announced that it would be targeting non-unionized automotive plants in the U.S. operated by the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and Tesla, to name a few. Those efforts are already well underway, and now – following UAW President Shawn Fain’s official endorsement of Joe Biden in the upcoming presidential race – it has announced that more than 10,000 workers have signed union cards thus far.
These 10,000 workers encompass 13 different non-union companies currently operating in the U.S., which the UAW has accumulated roughly 90 days after it ended its strike against the Detroit Big Three automakers. That includes Volkswagen’s assembly plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, as well as the Mercedes-Benz facility in Vance, Alabama, plus more than two dozen other facilities, according to the union.
Volkswagen’s Tennessee plant saw more than 1,000 workers – or around 30 percent of its total workforce sign a union authorization card in less than a week after the campaign started there, as Ford Authority reported in December. Additionally, the Alabama-based Mercedes-Benz plant also reached the 30 percent mark in short order, according to the union, which will continue to push to organize those and other facilities in the coming months.
“Our Stand Up movement has caught fire among America’s autoworkers, far beyond the Big Three,” said UAW President Shawn Fain. “These workers are standing up for themselves, for their families, and for their communities, and our union will have their back every step of the way.”

Stupid endorsement. Hope those union cards will come in handy when they are applying at McDonalds in a couple of years.
Meaning 770% did not !
sorry, 70% should read.
Allegedly.
I've worked union and non union and have been involved with negotiations. These companies earn alot of money and pay their CEOs very very well. I've always made more money and had better benefits when working union. Retired now and enjoying life thanks to my union jobs.
