Ford F-150 FP700S Is A Proper SVT Lightning Successor

The Ford F-150 FP700 package debuted back in June 2023 as something that Blue Oval fans had long clamored for – a way to transform the popular pickup into a rowdy, powerful, and downright fun street machine, much like the F-150 SVT Lightning used to be. Rather than develop a third-generation SVT Lightning, Ford opted to instead create the F-150 Raptor, which has since become a tremendous success, in all fairness. However, there are still those that pine for a proper Ford F-150 SVT Lightning successor, though one could argue that the recently-revealed Ford F-150 FP700S package is the next best thing.

The Ford F-150 F-150 FP700S is currently on display at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas as a preview of the production version of that package that will debut at a later date, joining a host of other concepts that fall under the new Ford Custom Garage umbrella of similar offerings. The concept is based on a 2024 Ford F-150 XL regular cab, two-wheel drive pickup. From there, FoMoCo added a Ford Performance lowering kit, as well as a Ford Performance by Whipple Superchargers 3.0L blower to the truck’s 5.0L V8 Coyote engine. That lifts output to 700 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, and better yet, it’s 50-state CARB legal and comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile Ford Performance Parts warranty when installed by a Blue Oval dealer or ASE-certified technician.

In addition to this supercharger upgrade, the Ford F-150 FP700S package also includes a Ford Performance fender vent kit, unique badging, and a cat-back sport exhaust. It’s currently unclear what this new package will retail for, but the existing FP700 packages cost $12,350.

Given the fact that one can purchase the Ford F-150 FP700 package (and soon, the FP700S) from the automaker and have it installed by a dealer, this is essentially the next best thing to a brand new F-150 SVT Lightning, truthfully. It’s more of a spiritual successor, given its regular cab, rear-wheel drive, supercharged V8-powered format – albeit with a heck of a lot more power on tap, too. Given the fact that both first- and second-generation Lightnings are holding their value rather well, there’s clearly some built-in demand for these packages – so even if we never see another proper factory-built sample, this package is certainly the next best thing.

  • That SVT F150 Lightning successor looks to be an awesome sleeper until it's owner wakes it up! If Ford does follow through upon factually building it; I'd buy it! It would also be a great give away match to it's 1st SVT F150 Lightning younger performer!
