The F-Series line of Ford trucks has been around since 1948, which is when the F1 originally debuted, along with its heavier-duty counterparts. Since then, the F-Series has been a constant innovator, which has helped keep it atop the sales charts for well over four decades to this point. Many of these innovations come in the form of exterior styling, and we aren’t just talking about handsome looks, either – rather, some design features present on F-Series Ford trucks, such as its drop window treatment, also serve a functional purpose as well.

The drop window treatment – the dropping belt line located roughly at the middle portion of the front doors – has been a common design trait of F-Series Ford trucks for quite a few years to this point, and for some very good reasons. Originally, the drop window treatment was intended to provide the driver with better visibility, without having to sacrifice anything, really, and it still does a great job of precisely that.

However, over the past few years, Ford has incorporated more and more cameras in various places around the exterior of the F-Series, giving drivers much better visibility than the old days. Regardless, the drop window treatment remains a useful feature in terms of improving visibility, and on the flip side, it’s a unique design trait that makes F-Series Ford trucks pretty easy to identify as well.

The drop window treatment is one of many reasons why the F-Series line of Ford trucks continues to sit atop the sales charts, and as it turns out, that appeal isn’t limited to just one demographic, either. Rather, the F-Series is one of the most commonly owned vehicles of multiple generations – including Millennials, Generation X, and Boomers – most of whom are extremely loyal by automotive standards, too. Unfortunately, that same popularity also makes F-Series trucks a hot target for thieves, too.

  • Glad you have spotlighted this feature. I believe most Ford truck owners take it for granted and don’t fully appreciate how valuable it is. I absolutely love it. If Ford does away with it, ever, I will leave Ford in protest!!

  • To bad ford can't / won't fix/ recall the 10R80 transmissions in millions of their vehicles that are failing prematurely.

  • If Ford wants to get out of its hole it must first put EVS on the shelf and better produce more quality vehicles , 2 - Tell your dealers to stop robbing the public with this msrp bull. We want deals like before . Dealers are bending the customer over and most of us are on the side lines just waiting for this bull to stop. Fix and settle all recalls your slipping . This would be a good start
