The Lincoln Continental has an on-again, off-again production history, finally discontinued for good once the 2020 model year was built out. Back in the 1980s, the Continental was synonymous with luxury, defined by its long, low-slung profile that offered a comfortable ride like no other. Sometimes, an example of the Continental that’s still in pretty good shape crosses the auction block, like this 1984 Lincoln Continental diesel that was sold back in 2020. Now, enthusiasts have the chance to bid on another, and this one hails from the 1982 model year.

Available on Bring a Trailer, this 1982 Lincoln Continental Signature Series is in excellent condition. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time it has crossed the digital auction block. It was acquired by the seller in 2021, and they’ve taken care of it since, rebuilding the carburetor, replacing the headliner, radiator, battery, drive belts, hoses, and fluids. The odometer shows 18,000 miles, with 2,000 added under current ownership.

The 1982 Lincoln Continental Signature Series trim was only offered as an option for the seventh-gen model’s inaugural model year. This particular example is finished in a duotone blue, featuring Dark Blue Metallic over Light Blue Metallic on the lower half of the doors, and the seller states that most of the vehicle was refinished under their ownership. Other standout features include a power sunroof, numerical entry keypad, simulated spare tire hump, quadruple headlights, along with bright chrome bumpers all around and rocker panels.

The ensemble rides on 15-inch wire wheels wrapped in 225/75 Maxxis MA-1 thin-whitewall tires. Four wheel disc brakes provide stopping power, and it also features power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering.

That blue theme is carried through to the interior, which is finished in Midnight Blue leather. It features power adjustable Twin Comfort Lounge front seats along with a rear bench. This 1982 Lincoln Continental features its factory cassette stereo, but passengers can enjoy Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones thanks to an aftermarket module.

As for what’s under the hood, this 1982 Lincoln Continental features a 302ci V8 engine and a two-barrel Holley carb. It has a clean Montana title, and is currently for sale in California, and potential buyers should note that it’s a bit temperamental and may not start if left parked for too long, but it shouldn’t take more than a few pumps of the throttle pedal to get it up and running.
