Back in April 2024, Shelby American pulled the covers off its very first special S650 generation Ford Mustang variant – the Super Snake – which sports unique exterior styling upgrades coupled with Shelby-branded items adorning the interior and a supercharged 5.0L V8 Coyote powerplant generating 830 horsepower. However, we always knew that more S650 variants would be coming from Shelby American, and true to form, it teased precisely that earlier this week. Now, that new variant is here – the 2025 Shelby GT350 – and GT350R.
The 2025 Shelby GT350 is a bit of a departure from the S550 generation GT350, which was made and sold by Ford packing a high-revving, naturally-aspirated powerplant. Rather than stick to its roots, Shelby American opted to give the new GT350 a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger (though it can also be had in standard guise making 480 horsepower), along with a Shelby by Borla cat-back exhaust system, which helps it generate 810 horsepower.
Other mechanical upgrades include front and rear lowering springs and sway bars, plus staggered 20×9.5 and 20×11-inch flow forged alloy wheels wrapped with Shelby performance-spec tires. Buyers can choose from a manual or automatic transmission, but the GT350R will only be offered with a manual and supercharger, churning out 830 horsepower. The GT350R also gets a carbon fiber interior tub, optional carbon fiber racing seats and harnesses, carbon fiber trim, an integrated roll cage, a Trans AM spec high speed carbon fiber aero package, fully-adjustable JRI race struts and shocks with remote reservoirs, ProSystems Alcon racing brakes, and numerous chassis upgrades.
On the outside, the GT350 features an aluminum deep draw hood with a center vent that offers functional heat extraction, along with anniversary badging, a unique upper grille, a lower grille with brake ducts, outboard grilles, a three-piece front spoiler, a rear ducktail spoiler, and Le Mans style stripes. Inside the cabin, one will find recovered leather seats, embroidered floor mats, door sill plates, and a serialized dash plaque. Late availability options include a rear pedestal wing, a carbon fiber package, and a Performance Pack.
The 2025 Shelby GT350 can be had in a wealth of combinations, though a total of six base colors – Ingot Silver, Oxford White, Race Red, Carbonized Gray, Shadow Black, and a new, unnamed “attention-grabbing option,” plus four stripe colors – Blue, Black, White, and Silver. Production is slated to begin in Q2 2025, and customers will be able to purchase a new GT350 from select Ford dealers and limited international Shelby mod shops. However, production is limited to 562 units for the GT350 (and 36 GT350Rs) – just like it was in 1965 – with pricing starting out at $109,995 for the supercharged example. Pricing and launch info for the GT350R will be released at a later date.

The Gt350 with the flat plane crank was better I think. These outrageous hp numbers really are meaningless in the face of EV hp and instantaneous torque.
That flat plane crank wasn't great for durability / longevity of the Voodoo. That's the reason it was never offered as a crate:

shelby slapped a whipple on a 5.0 again, yawn. this is that same thing they do every year, nothing special here.
Another SA tuner car that won't stack up to the previous efforts by Ford. SA does know how to bring the pizazz though. The GT350 is way more exciting than the Dark Horse even though the base car likely doesn't perform any better than a Dark Horse w/handling package and the GT350R is going to be absolutely terrible on a road course since the platform doesn't really handle a lot of power well with a manual trans (the GT500 and GTD come with DCTs for a reason).
Also, at those prices I would expect "tuned at the Nürburgring" and "worked extensively with companies like Multimatic and their DSSV dampers to produce best handling Mustang possible". Ford unfortunately set the bar high with the S-197 and S550 Shelby Mustangs and a tuner company like Shelby American has some big shoes to fill, especially given the heritage of the brand.
