In recent months, we’ve begun seeing more and more modern vehicles with low miles surface for sale at collector car auctions – models that weren’t limited in terms of production, nor are they sporty or exotic machines, either. In fact, quite a few early Lincoln Navigator SUVs have popped up for sale as of late, signaling that we may be looking at the next hot collectible vehicle. Now, this 2002 Lincoln Navigator looks to test that theory yet again.
This 2002 Lincoln Navigator is currently up for auction at Bring a Trailer with just 15k miles on the clock, which is quite low for any vehicle of this vintage – let alone a large SUV that’s designed to soak up miles with ease. It’s unclear why that’s the case, but this Navigator has lived with three owners thus far, all of whom clearly didn’t feel compelled to drive it a whole lot. Regardless, that lack of use has left the Laser Red Tinted Clearcoat Metallic paint in great shape, as the auction listing doesn’t note any flaws there.
That’s mostly the case inside the cabin, as well, as we can only spot the typical creasing in the bolsters of the Navigator’s Medium Graphite leather heated and cooled power-adjustable front seats. They’re joined by plenty of amenities such as an overhead console with an electronic display, as well as power-adjustable pedals, an Alpine audio system, an AM/FM/cassette stereo with a console-mounted CD changer, cruise control, and automatic climate control with auxiliary rear-cabin controls.
Power comes from the familiar naturally-aspirated Ford 5.4L V8, which in this guise was originally rated to produce 300 horsepower and 355 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.
Along with this rather low-mile example, we’ve certainly come across our fair share of earlier Lincoln Navigator models at auction lately, a list that includes a 2001 model with 50k miles, a 2004 with 35k miles, and another 2004 with 33k miles, to name just a few.
