As Ford Authority reported earlier this month, HP Tuners just managed to unlock tuning capability for a variety of Blue Oval models utilizing the newer Fully-Networked Vehicle (FNV) electrical architecture, which was quite difficult to do given its many layers of encryption. That list includes models such as the S650 Ford Mustang, the 2021-2023 Ford F-150, 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R, 2021-2025 Ford Bronco, 2022-2025 Ford Bronco Raptor and Ford Ranger Raptor, and the 2022-2023 Ford Expedition. Now, Steeda has added its own custom tuning support for the 2025 Ford Explorer ST, too.
Steeda is the first third-party company to offer a complete custom tuning solution for the 2025 Ford Explorer ST via the HP Tuners MPVI3. That device retails for $399.99, and is compatible with a wide array of Blue Oval models. The OBDII interface gives tuners access to Ford’s ECU and TCU, giving them the ability to tweak a vehicle’s calibration, as well as do real-time data logging and complete diagnostics, all via HP Tuners’ VCM Suite software.
The MPV13 device also enables faster read and write speeds for quicker flashing of such tunes, 8MB of internal memory, Bluetooth capability, credit-based licensing (which allows one to tune more than one vehicle with the same device), and a USB-C cable for PC connectivity. The MPV13 also comes with four universal credits per ECM, VCM Suite Beta software, is RTD4 supported via TDN, and doesn’t require any sort of upgrade service.
Along with the 2025 Ford Explorer ST, the MPV13 can be used to tune a wide variety of Blue Oval models. However, it’s also worth noting that it’s been designed and is intended for off-road applications only. Installing it on a vehicle driven on public roads could violate certain laws and regulations, so one will want to check with their local authorities to ensure that they’re complying in that regard.
The Mustang's got a head start, though.

The lowest-mile example we've seen in some time.
Outrunning some serious machinery in the process.
Though it expects to offset that loss via energy storage systems.
Joining most of the rest of Ford's EV lineup.
