Since arriving in Australia nearly two years ago, the Ford F-150 has faced its fair share of problems – largely, in the form of recalls and compliance issues, along with a stop-sale. Those problems began with a collapsing turbo hose on the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost powerplant, and expanded to include a faulty steering intermediate shaft, another recall issued over airbag woes, and a third recall pertaining to non-compliant side direction indicator lamps. To date, seven recalls have been issued for the Aussie F-150, and now, the pickup is facing a new problem of sorts.
Now, The Blue Oval has issued another stop-sale for the Ford F-150 in Australia, according to CarExpert, placing a pause not only on the sales of new models, but also, deliveries of those that have already been ordered by customers. Ford didn’t disclose the reason for this stop-sale, but no recall has been issued, and the reason that prompted it isn’t reportedly a safety issue, at least. Previously, the Australian Ford F-150 faced compliance issues that prompted a stop-sale, so it’s possible that another has arisen, though that’s unclear at the moment.
“Ensuring we deliver quality vehicles to our customers is our number one priority,” a Ford Australia spokesperson stated. “Accordingly, a hold was placed on shipment of re-manufactured RHD F-150s while we worked through some internal requirements. We expect to be able to provide an update to our dealers by the end of July. We sincerely apologize to impacted customers for the delay with delivering their vehicle, and thank them for their patience.”
Previously, Australian Ford F-150 customers were offered up to $2,500 in compensation or a full refund if they opted not to keep their truck following the lifting of another stop-sale. That action stemmed from simple regulatory problems pertaining to the Australian government, specifically. Those prompted Ford to disable the F-150’s Zone Lighting feature and recalibrate or replace certain lighting features to ensure that it adheres to Australian Design Rules (ADRs).
