Having been around for well over a century to this point – and operating as a true global company – it’s no surprise that Ford continues to land on many lists of the most popular car brands – and companies, overall – in various parts of the world. The Blue Oval has a largely solid reputation in that regard, which multiple studies have confirmed over the years, and that continues to be the case. In fact, a new study found that Ford is currently the second-most popular automotive brand in the U.S., too.
From there, automakers from Japan – Toyota, Nissan, and Honda – as well as South Korea – Hyundai and Kia – dominate the list. Dodge, Jeep, and GMC round out the list of the top 10 this time around, leaving off many domestic brands. However, much of this data varies greatly by U.S. state, as one might imagine. In terms of the states with the most foreign automobiles, that list consists of Hawaii, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, Rhode Island, California, Washington DC, Maryland, New York, and New Hampshire.
On the flip side of the coin, the states with the most domestic vehicles consists of Michigan, North Dakota, Iowa, Wyoming, South Dakota, Montana, Indiana, Nebraska, Missouri, and Kentucky. To come up with these results, Insurify analyzed its proprietary database of over 97 million insurance rates and the associated vehicles, with the resulting data reflecting median insurance costs for drivers between the ages of 20 and 70 with clean driving records and average or better credit.
